Intervention_Detail & Matter

Individual Work
Location:  Coal Drops Yard, London, UK

The project involves the transformation of the original coal drops yard into a captivating gallery space. Upon my initial visit to the site, I was captivated by the palpable echoes of history and the remarkable arching forms that define its identity.

To preserve the authentic architectural ambiance of the location, a deliberate choice was made to retain the site's original material: bricks. Guided by the arching shape, a connecting structure was ingeniously devised to unite two distinct spaces, harmonizing the entire design.

“If the original building wholeheartedly accepts and establishes an intimate
relationship with the new design, that is, the two become one, the category is intervention.”
